How Often Should Extraction Be Cleaned?

For the most part, extraction canopies are washed once a week, generally between cleanings, and in the case of a heavy spill should be cleaned more frequently. How often you should clean your canopy depends on a number of factors including the type of debris that have fallen to the ground, the size of the spill and the length of time since the spill occurred. If you are cleaning a large spill that is impacting a lot of area, you may need to clean it more often. Likewise if you have had cleanings and then a heavy downpour occurs, the cleanup may need to occur more often to ensure the safety of those around you.

There are a number of other considerations to keep in mind as you decide how often you should clean your canopy. In addition to the amount of dirt accumulation and the type of debris falling to the ground, you need to consider how much dirt is actually on the ground when your canopy is cleaned. Cleaning kitchen canopy more often means that a portion of the dirt from the ground is also removed and potentially cleaned away. At the same time, removing the majority of the dirt will mean that there is no longer a large deposit of dirt waiting to occur which can pose a hazard in case of a future cleanup. It also means less work for yourself, which is something we all strive for!

In the past, many cleaning services recommended days and weeks of cleaning to reduce the impact of debris, but recent Clean Air Agency (CAA) guidelines now indicate that cleaning should occur at least one time per calendar day. The Clean Air Act was passed by Congress to ensure that Americans breathe cleaner air and to protect their health by cutting down on air pollution. The Clean Air Act is one of the most effective environmental laws in the country and it is critical that all companies take the time to comply with its regulations. Ensuring that you and your employees are properly trained in cleaning procedures is essential to meeting these regulations and to achieving the maximum protection of our health and the environment.
